Reseacher - Forest Genetics
The Norwegian Forest and Landscape Institute (Forest and Landscape) has a national role as a research institute for forest and landscape research, and in development, production and dissemination of geographical data.
Forest genetics is a prioritised subject area at Forest and Landscape, which is emphasised in the strategy of the institute. Forest and Landscape has a formal agreement with the Norwegian Forest Seed Centre on professional assistance in breeding of forest trees. The section is involved in several projects funded by the Research Council of Norway and contributes actively in joint Nordic and European projects.
Responsibilities
The responsibility of Section for forest genetics is to provide basic knowledge on genetics of forest trees to be applied in tree breeding and gene resource management, and for understanding of climatic adaptation of trees. We seek a new employee to work on:
- Research in molecular genetics and population genetics
- Establishment of genomic research and association genetics
- Breeding research and dissemination of information
- Management of forest genetic resources, e.g. in cooperation with the Norwegian Genetic Resource Centre.
